The Rev. Jonathan Trapp serves as Redeemer’s Associate Pastor for Faith Formation following his call in 2018.

Pastor Jonathan’s call to ministry came after a long journey. He firmly believes that the church is called to be an advocate for justice and peace in the world and is excited to be a part of living out his calling in community with the people of Redeemer. He is excited to see how God is calling the church to live out the calling make disciples and to speak hope into the world in new and exciting ways.

A bi-vocational pastor, Pastor Jonathan’s first career began in emergency management at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. He is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of CDC staff who deploy to respond to public health emergencies around the world, CDC’s Casualty Assistance Team, and continuity of operations coordination.

Pastor Jonathan grew up in Chattanooga and graduated from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, with a degree in Political Science, the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia, with a Masters in Public Administration, and Luther Seminary, in St Paul, Minnesota, with a Masters of Divinity.

Pastor Jonathan lives in Midtown with his son, TJ. Pastor Jonathan enjoys playing sports and board games with his son, collecting and reading books about liturgy, running, and playing guitar and drums.

Pastor Jonathan’s favorite passage of Scripture is Micah 6:8.
