Michael Clarke joined the staff of Redeemer as the LCFM Kitchen Manager in June 2021.
Hailing from East Harlem, he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service from Johnson & Wales School of Culinary Arts. He comes from a long line of corrections officers and police officers. At age 13, he was homeless for five years, which is the reason why he has a heart for people in need.
At age 16, his first job was at Tavern on the Green located in the heart of Central Park in New York City. He started as a food runner and worked his way up to lead cook over five years. Following his time at Tavern on the Green, he worked as a corrections officer but did not believe it was his calling, so he became the jail cook and later the sous chef.
In addition to working on cruise ships, Clarke has worked for the Atlanta Mission, and for Randalls and Islands, both non-profit organizations.
He and his wife have been married for 30 years and have three children and eight grandchildren.
