If you have been keeping track of the latest news concerning COVID-19, you are unfortunately aware that rates of transmission of the new BA.5 variant of the virus are spiking in Georgia. As of this morning, all four of our metro counties (Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett) have been designated by the CDC to have High Covid-19 Community Levels.
In areas of High Community Levels, the CDC recommends:
- Each individual wear a mask indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status.
- Everyone should stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines.
- If someone exhibits symptoms, the should get tested as soon as possible.
- Individuals at high risk for severe illness should take additional precautions. You can find these listed here.
Following our own protocols, Redeemer will again institute a face covering requirement for all indoor activities, including worship, starting today. Hopefully, if we each do our part, this surge will be of short duration and we can remove this requirement soon.
While this is extremely disappointing to many of us, and will cause increased burden on some, I want to thank you for your patience as together we continue to journey through these unprecedented times. It is a testament to putting Christ’s love first that we have sacrificed and supported one another, putting the needs of the most vulnerable first, even as each of us have had different approaches and senses of anxiety through this time.
Please continue to pray for our people and community, that all will be safe, as we continue to witness to the compassionate love of Jesus in all that we do.
