In today’s world church membership means so much more than adding names to a roll. It means gathering God’s people into a faithful community of believers who are partners in the life-changing ministries of the church. The following values shape the life we live and the work we share at Redeemer.
We worship: We worship as a commitment to Christ in order to be equipped by God’s word and nourished at his table. We worship to celebrate his presence among us.
We learn: Luther said that we are to “so love God… that we keep his word holy and gladly hear and learn it.” Growth in faith begins with our willingness to be learners of the word.
We serve: In 1 Peter 4:10 we read, “each one should use whatever spiritual gift you have received to serve others.” We are strongest when all partners in this faith community assume her or his place of active service.
We give: We are of all people most blessed. God gives to us every good and perfect gift. Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly. Giving joyfully, thankfully, and freely is one of the most blessed things we do.
We share: We are brothers and sisters in faith. We are children of the same heavenly Father. We take every opportunity to come together in fellowship in order to build lasting relationships based on faith, acceptance and respect.
We care: We build among us a community of support and encouragement. We truly care for one another from the youngest to the oldest, from the weakest to the strongest. Every person is important to Redeemer.
We pray: In 1 Thessalonians the Apostle Paul asks us to “pray without ceasing”. Prayer is an attitude and a way of life for the Christian. We take everything to God in prayer not hoping that our prayer will change God but hoping that our prayer will change us. Partners in Ministry pray for each other.
