Forty days with the Lord’s Prayer is a forty-day journey with Jesus. In fourteen short lines the Lord’s Prayer contains the heart and soul of Jesus’ teaching. If you are interested in what God wants for you and what God wants from you, then you can do no better than spend forty days with the profound prayer.” Book of faith- Lenten Journey
We invite you to be part of this Lenten Journey available through the small groups meeting for the next six weeks in locations around the city. The Redeemer Prayer Wall- Sims Atrium
“O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth I cry to you for help, when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge. Psalm 61:1-3
In Jerusalem, the "Wailing Wall" or the Western Wall as it is sometimes called is known worldwide as a spiritual landmark where people of all faiths are welcome to gather and offer prayers. The Wailing Wall is located in one of the busiest, noisiest parts of the Old City; a daily crossroad for thousands of people. Yet, for many it becomes a singular sacred space, a quiet retreat where prayers are offered and hope is renewed. Believing that God is listening, the prayers are written on small pieces of paper, and tucked into the crevices of the wall reflecting the concerns held in the crevices of the heart. We invite you to place your prayers in the Redeemer Prayer Wall, located in one of Redeemer’s busiest crossroads, affirming our belief that the power of prayer changes lives and the world!
As part of our Lenten Journey we will add petitions gathered in worship services each Saturday and Sunday during Lent to the Redeemer Prayer Wall.
In addition to the Redeemer Prayer Wall in the Sims Atrium, you may connect with a Virtual Prayer Wall online. At www.redeemerprays.blogspot.com we will post a daily prayer related to the Lenten Journey and will welcome your personal prayer petitions in the comments. We hope this will be a place where Redeemer members can conveniently share prayer requests, as well as view prayers specifically for their brothers and sisters in Christ.
Each day on our Facebook Wall, Redeemer will be posting a Scripture Verse, Theological Thought and Question to Ponder related to the Lenten Journey. Please "be-friend" Redeemer on Facebook at www.facebook/redeemerluth to participate in this daily discussion.
Rudisill Hall- Prayer Room
The Labyrinth will be in place for the duration of Lent. This is a chance for personal meditation in walking the Labyrinth. Walking the Labyrinth uplifts your spirits, creates a feeling of peace, and offers time for renewal and reflection.
Interactive prayer journey: as you move through the room you will also move through the stages of how we experience God’s presence in prayer; expressing confession, seeking healing and forgiveness, and finally an area of thanksgiving and remembering. Each station has an experiential piece that will help you listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Children’s & Family Ministries
During Lent we will provide special opportunities for children to learn and grow in their relationship with God through prayer. All of the skits and large group activities that take place in Kids Space will focus on prayer.
A new children’s prayer brochure that contains over 15 prayers for meals, bed-time, or any time is available in the Sims Atrium.
Sunday school classes during Lent will visit the Redeemer Prayer Wall and the Prayer Room in Rudisill Hall.
Sunday school offering collected during Lent will be designated for the Bresma Orphanage in Haiti. Each child will receive a Lenten Offering Box and are asked that each time they place money into the box they say a prayer for the children of Haiti, the children of the United States and around the world.
