FAQ search team

Q: Why is the survey not available electronically?

A: The Search Team wanted the survey to be available to all members while protecting the integrity of the results. The Search Team considered an electronic survey but recognized that many members may not be comfortable taking a survey in this format. Additionally, the Church did not have computers and network capabilities to create kiosks for members to take the survey electronically at Church. The Search Team even considered sending the survey via email but not all members had email addresses. Also, the survey could not be returned anonymously. While it would have been ideal to offer both electronic and paper, the Search Team decided paper would be acceptable to all generations while preserving integrity of the results.

Q: Will homebound members be allowed to take the surveys?

A: Yes, the Search Team mailed surveys to these individuals.

Q: How can we ensure youths are participating in the surveys?

A: Input from our youths is very important. The Search Team is checking member names off from a list of Confirmed Members. If there is a confirmed youth listed, the Search Team members are asking parents to make sure his/her child completes the survey. Additionally, there are two youths who have volunteered to help the Search Team. These youth volunteers will be the liaisons between the Search Team and our youths.

Q: Why is there no blog to show survey results as they are being compiled?

A: In order to minimize mixed messages, the Search Team decided it would be best to provide results of the survey after all have been compiled.

Q: How will survey results be available?

A: The Search Team will present results to Council. Council, Pastor Weber and the Search Team will then determine the best way to communicate results to the congregation.

Q: What happens after the survey?

A: The Search Team will display the overall search process and updates via the Church’s website and at the Church.

Q: Has the Search Team begun interviewing?

A: Prior to interviewing, there are many pre-steps. One includes completing a Congregational Profile which is required to submit to Synod. This Profile will more than likely be two inches thick responding to questions Synod requires. In order to complete this Congregational Profile, the Search Team wanted input from the congregation. For this reason, time was taken to develop and administer a congregational survey.

Q: How can I volunteer to help the Search Team?

A: Please contact David Schimming, Chairman of the Search Team.

Q: If I do not have time to volunteer, then what else can I do to help the Search Team?

A: Please pray for the Search Team that the Holy Spirit will guide them to our new Senior Pastor. Unlike business search for a CEO, this process is driven by the Holy Spirit. Your prayers are needed. If you would like to participate on the Prayer Team, please contact Leslie Misch (770.753.9118).
