Two Small Groups for New Moms have begun and regular monthly meetings are planned!
Are you an expectant or new mom? Would you like to connect with other mothers in a safe, confidential and comfortable environment? Two small groups have just formed for new mothers, especially those interested in supporting one another in the life changes that result from giving birth and life with an infant. Topics such as finding time to care for yourself, connecting with your husband, faith and the new mother and postpartum depression/anxiety are discussed. We also share resources with one another. No preparation is necessary and you can bring your child with you while the group meets or utilize the Nursery while we get together.
The Wednesday group has decided to meet on the first Wednesday of each month. The next Wednesday meeting will be July 2, 2008 at 12 noon in Room 211.
The Friday group has decided to meet on the third Friday of each month. The next Friday group will be July 18, 2008 at 11:30am in Room 211.
The groups have decided to share a devotion, a "10 second tip" by each member and to bring brown bag lunches. The leadership of the group will rotate via volunteers and at each meeting a dessert will be brought for sharing. We will end each meeting with sharing of joys and prayer requests. We hope to be in prayer for one another throughout the month between meetings, so we will utilize a distribution list through which to communicate. The Wednesday group has decided to bring individual topics to each meeting based upon the personal interests of the group members at the time which we meet. The Friday group will utilize a format where a topic for discussion is chosen and brought forward by that month's leader. There will also be an opportunity for open-ended discussion, at the Friday group, as with the Wednesday group.
